With that good of a cyl. head there would be no reason not to make the engine big .

If your going to do the small bore stay with the 2.300 valve heads and open them up later. The d1 block will work but IMO I wouldn't waste the money on the caps and just fill it it's cheap, save the money for the better block later. I also like the shorter stroke stuff and a 572 is only a 4.600 bore and a new set of pistons later when you can afford the a460 block.

Just keep it conservitive and the block will live.

Well the old saying goes, theirs no subsitute for cubic inches.... IMO sonic it if it's good punch it .080 and put a 4.5 arm in it and go seeing that you have the caps already. Built a 557 and get the 2.35 valve a460 heads. You'll make 900hp like falling off a log.....

sure you do the valves are unshrouded and I think you will be having to check the valve to cylinder wall clearances very close with the .030 over vs the .080 and beside look at it this way the Block is way cheaper to find than another set of pistons.......

Typical drag motor isn't going to wear out a bore that fast and you can order custom pistons in any bore size like .081 for example...... You typicaly do not need to bore an engine for a freshing up.

If you break someting a scare up a cylinder just sleeve it......

Your going racing, not a 200,000 mile drive.

Exactly. You're buying pistons anyway, go the .080" over and be done with it. The A460 heads like a big bore! It's going to cost you to bore the block either way and it's not going to be that much to go .080" vs. .030". Now get that thing to the machine shop and get to work!

I agree w/you guy's 100%. And imo, as cheap and plentiful as these blocks are. I don't even know if I would take the time or spend the money to put 4 bolt caps on them.
