4340 eagle crank
Im thinking about buying an 4340 eagle crank that's been turned .010 on the mains. Is there a disadvantage or a problem with this being done. What about bearings to get the correct clearance? An additional .001, would that be .010stdx?
Thanks

If it was ground by a competent shop and has been checked out their is no problem getting bearings. Factory Eagle machine work is rather Sloppy and inconsistant for the most part.

I think that would be correct if the journal is .010. Call Lem Evans to be sure. They may be hard to find in a .010x. King bearings would be your best chance of having it.If they can be found,Lem or Adney can find them. www.bfevansraceparts.com

Re: 4340 eagle crank
The stroke is a 4340 4.500 turned down by eagle. I guess because of a mistake. I'm wondering if the nitride was ground away or do they or did they renitride it?
Thanks

Re: 4340 eagle crank
is it a sell from Eagle or someone have it there handy? if so I would check it out Mic the rods and mains to make sure they are correct and round, as stated some of their work is shoddy at best.... and some is spot on, only way to make sure is double check it..... and ask if the Nitride is on or if they Nitrided it after they ground it! Blake had one of their cast cranks and it was a flexible crank it flexed like a mad man in his engine, I think the 4340 would be alot better.....
