Valve reliefs ?
guys bear with me here its just hypothetical questions ,
1- so if i fly cut my pistons to except p-51"s ( compared to the edelbrocks) how much hp loss will i have if any ---- comparing if i were to buy new pistons or just flycut the old ones ??
2- could i fly cut the pistons to accept a460 heads ?
thxs for the input guys

Re: Valve reliefs ?
You can flycut the top stuff for just about any head provided you have the thickness in the top. Only ones that me be an issue would be hemi heads. And that ma be more due to ring placement.
You'll drop a little compression putting in the extra reliefs but can make tha up with a little cutting of the heads with the p-51's
You will lose a good bit of compression going to the ahead.......

Re: Valve reliefs ?
I was wandering kinda the same thing. I have a set of diamond flat tops w/ a460 valve reliefs, can they be fly cut for a conventional set of heads like doves or dooe-r's. They have a comp. ht of 1.25. Just wandering -did'nt mean to hijack your post Bruno -A

A piston forging for an A460 valve placement will usually NOT have enough thickness where the regular production notch needs to be, (most A460 pistons are machined using big block Chevy forging blanks as thay share the approximate location for the intake notch); the SCJ/P-51 notch is no problem.
The newer domed Diamond A460 forgings are a dedicated forging.
