Rd.2 of qualfying: Morgan as well as most of the others dropped 1/10. Morgan's still ahead of Line, and less than .02 behind Anderson. Nobile seems to be having issues still. Hope he gets it figured out tomorrow.

Re: Morgan's lookin' real good so far after 1st rd. of qualifying in Phoenix. UPDATE! Rd. 2....
Just back from the track here in Phoenix. Probably the worst run nat. event I've ever seen. Rivera's Pro stocker flipped at about 160mph right in front of us we were on the wall really something to experience. Morgans car looked good, Warren and Curt Johnson looked out dated and not competitive at all. Force is back for sure. Still a good day at he track.

TRACK or TRACKING?
I too noticed the "Mountain Tire" entry ended on it's roof during the final round of qualifying! I also noticed many of the drivers were reported to have "clicked" or "clutched" their mounts early! Was there something wrong with the track at or near the top end? Wind, sand or/and bad surface? Morgan's in, although in the bottom half. As usual, a "tight field" separated by less than a tenth!

I just looked at the photos of Deceglies' crash. He tore it up real good. Glad he walked away. Gordie Rivera did almost the same thing on Friday. Something must be up with the track.

Re: Morgan's lookin' real good so far after 1st rd. of qualifying in Phoenix. UPDATE! Rd. 2....
There's a big bump in that left lane. Plus they were explaining how the Pro Stockers have such little downforce, that it's easy for them to end up on their roof. They showed both Rivera, and Deceglie's crashes in a side by side, and they both flipped over at almost exactly the same point on the track, and had the same type of roof drag. Glad nobody was injured. The end of Pro Stock qualifying had everyone shutting down early. You could her Morgan shut down probably 80-100' out, as did most everyone else. I think if he'd ran it through, he'd probably have stayed in the top half of the field, possibly improved.
Hope all goes well today. At least we won't have to wait until freakin midnight to watch it today.

Those devices only apply to the nitro classes, not Pro Stock.

If he was in the left lane, he probably shut it off so he would have a car to take home.

I was thinking the same thing. Greg Anderson was NOT happy after his first round in the left lane

No he wasn't Damon. I'm not much of a Greg Anderson fan, but I agree 100% with his statements after his pass. Warren Johnson had a handful of steering wheel on his pass as well.

I still think Greg Anderson is cheating cuz they can take him out of the hole all the way down to within 75 feet of the end then he just majicly pases them in a last minute charge.. almost everytime...... kind of like the NOS Dodge boys did years ago....

It's nothing like a n2o charge. Its called being set up. His increments are normal for the times he is running. It helps a lot having Line tuning his car. Being the best in pro stock today, you have to be the best at every aspect of setting up a car.the Coug wrote: kind of like the NOS Dodge boys did years ago....Randy
I have a friend in a dragster that is the slowest N/A in our group, but is set up where it runs a very strong 2nd half. If you're not careful, you will pull up and not have enough to go around him.
Mike Edwards has found something very interesting.

Didn’t mean to insinuate that I knew what it was. Just that he knows something about the set up on that GXP that he’s not telling anyone else.

I'm glad Edwards is running better than Anderson. Never cared for him, and I have no idea why. I pretty much quit watching PS when he was dominating. Now if Larry or John or Robert or Erica could best Edwards, that would be even better.
And my car does that 2nd half thing good too. Probably because of the big old CJ intake ports. Raced a Chevy one time that was dialed 2 tenths quicker than me, I was a bit late on the tree, and he caught me by 200 feet, and decided it would be a good idea to just fender race me. I don't remember who I raced in the next round...

HOLY COW! I just watched the highlight reel of Antron Brown's rear wheel bouncing through the spectator area. That poor gal probably never knew what hit her. Thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

It was bad, Antron crashed into the wall right in front of me. I lost sight of the tire because of the crowd, but heard later that it had hit a woman, but no word on her condition. I didn't know she had passed until I got home. It was generally a miserable day, off and on rain. Many false starts to the program. They shuffled all the sportsman racers to today and didn't even finish the pro cars.

THEY HAVE FOUND ......
Anderson and Edwards have found "something"! I think it's called, "putting the power to the ground". As in most performance situations, any venue or any manufacture, an individual or group will find a performance gain. Whether it's power, aerodynamics or the ability to apply the fore mentioned assets to improve performance over a previous configuration. Those individuals or/and groups are rewarded with a performance advantage over their competition .... for a while! The individuals or/and groups that compete at these levels, which provide the monetary resources for their survival (professional and personal) are not stupid! The "new ideas" of the past are soon realized by others. Then another's performance moves to the front. That simply explains the competitiveness of most professional performance series as we know them. I could imagine those guys probably eat lunch while lying beneath their cars, standing over their engines or reading the dyno results again and again, just to search for that extra bit of performance!
Just my $0.02!
