OT.(I just could not resist!)
As most of you guys know I'm partial to FE's, although I enjoy 'em all. I was thumbing through the March fifth issue of National Dragster and admiring John Calvert's 1964 Fairlane "Thunderbolt" (replica) NHRA AA/S entry. Reading the article as to the debut performance, it was pretty quick. Well, so I thought! As I researched the National Records for the AA/S entry, there was who else, Robert Pond! With his beautiful 1966 Fairlane 427 holding the NHRA AA/S record at 9.68 @ 138.79! That's pretty damn fast. I thought with most hi-powered small tire entries, the automatic cars (at times) are a bit quicker although not faster. I looked down the page at the NHRA AA/SA record. Holly sh!t. There was a Hajek Ford 2008 Mustang CobraJet, driven by Jimmy Holzman with the record ..... 9.44 @ 142.84! That is one fast some-bitch.
