Scorpion lifters Empty Scorpion lifters

Post  jasonf March 20th 2010, 7:33 am

There is an interesting article on Scorpion lifters over on stangtv. I have never used Scorpion products but maybe others with experience could weigh in. I just found it interesting after all the lifter problems people were having last year.

I have used their rockers in the past with no problems, and they were a very good quality for the price. Jim Kuntz recomended them to me for a small block I had him build.

Did any of you guys go to Scorpion's web site to view lifter specs? I tried! I notice a flat faced lifter lying in the lifter valley with an EDM oil hole, although I didn't notice mention of it within the link posted. Do they offer such an option?

Dave.

I'd guess they are just repackaging other manufactures products???? I wasn't aware that they actually manufactured lifters like they do rocker arms.

So is the concenus they are junk, middle of the road stuff as in good for street builds, or a product that can be used in racing applications? I'm looking into the crower roller rockers, but heck for 2/3rd the price of the crowers I can get the pretty blue scoprians!

According to Mr. Whalen, “The key to our success is in the metallurgy and the acicular carbide content in the lifter face. Acicular carbides give a lifter its wear characteristics and make it last. To ensure the highest quality in every part, Scorpion built and developed a machine to test every lifter for the correct acicular carbide content. This is the only machine of its kind in existence, and it’s why we can guarantee our lifters for life.”

This phrase from the article makes it sound like they make their own lifters that is why they are better.
