Re: Nothin' bettter than.................
I keep losing the post where I asked this. But when people use the term "W" for their tires, what do they mean?

That's all it means. A M/T 29.5/10.5-15 is 10.2" wide, a 29.5/10.5S-15 is 10.2" wide (S is stiff wall) and a 29.5/10.5W-15 is 11.2" wide.

Re: Nothin' bettter than.................
The small tire guys think the bigger tires make your car faster when in reality if you hook the smaller tire ot will be faster. Given a marginal track there may be some advantage. An inch wider tread aint no deal breaker, hell the 8.5" tire guys are faster than a lot of us.
In the end what matters is how many checks your cashin'.

Re: Nothin' bettter than.................
So are wider tires like 10.5 better or are smaller ones like 8.5 better? I'm getting myself confused.

if you are building a class specific race car ...you need to run what the rules say .... 8.5", 275 dr, 10.5, or a 10.5w etc ........
if you are bracket racing i would run the widest tire the chassis/power will allow .... probably more consist to the everyday br from diff track conditions
just my .02
