How can you achieve 800ci???
How would I achieve a massive displacement engine like this, posted by jmayabb.
Here is mine. It is an 815 inch Hemi built by my dad and I.
How is it possible to bore and stroke an engine to over 800ci? What would the specs have to be for this? I just wonder what it takes to make a monster like this, plus, what kind of block is required? The maximum stroke crank that I've ever seen for sale is 4.5" but the displacement chart shows more. Where could you even buy these parts?

Lots and Lots of $$$$$
12" Deck Aluminum Blocks, 6" Stroke Billet Cranks and Realy, Realy Big Heads. You Should see the ports on those motors, you can stick a fist down the ports..........
Kaase Builds a bunch of them.

Yeah, I saw the 820 Kaase engine. But wouldn't the block have to have so many changes like bore spacing and deck height that it couldn't be considered a 385-series?
What could you do with a regular block? How big can they go and for what castings?

Sorry, sometimes I only type half of what I am thinking.bb429power wrote:Whats 4.9bs deck height? Thanks for the info.jones wrote:664cu for a 10.32H x 4.9bs deck height
4.9 Bore space, you have to step up to the 5" bore space to get into the 800cu's
Bore space is the distance from center to center of the bores.

No duh *smacks his head* I can't believe I didn't put 2 and 2 together. My block (I think its something close to this) is DOVE-D 6015? Might be off, I'm not sure. Is that 4.9 bore spacing? I can be the king of questions sometimes I like to know my stuff.

Re: How can you achieve 800ci???
A 12" deck block is a must in order to put a big stroke in it. You can make 800 plus inches with a 4.9 bore space as long as you have a big deck. 4.650 bore with a 6" stroke crank is 815 inches. You can find pretty good deals on these motors from pro stock teams that are upgrading sometimes. They are always wanting the best parts available so they get rid of thier outdated stuff even though it is still high quality. We gathered parts from 3 states to put ours together but if you buy anything new for these motors plan to spend 3 times the cost of a normal motor.
Re: How can you achieve 800ci???
My friends dad is a top alcohol dragster racer, he was just selling his motor for $25,000. I was a very goo dragster for the class at that. Isn't 4.5" the max stroke for a regular block? Or I thinks that's the max without machining required.
Thanks guys.

4.75 will fit, but isn't readily avalible out side of billet custom stuff, IMO 5" would probably clear but would require a bunch of clearancing, but I haven't seen it done in a ford, but some GM Builders are doing it in 10.2 deck stuff.

Re: How can you achieve 800ci???
When I looked at doing a 664cu in a A460 block 10.320 deck height and 4.9 bore spacing. With a 5" crank I was told it can be done and has been done. BUT The crankshaft would have to be a billet unit, then it would require so much heavy metal it would cost double the crankshaft cost for just the machine work! That is if you could even find someone with the equipment, skill and drive to want too to do it! You would probably looking at $6,000+ for just the crankshaft.
I could be a little off on the double part, but it was very exspensive. These are the things that make these types of things so exspensive.
