Re: drag racing
Something else to consider is the payout of the races you enter, when looking at profit/loss. If you only enter races that pay $500 to win....you will have to win a bunch of 'em to come anywhere close to breaking even. However, win just one race that pays $20,000 to win and you have a whole different story.

Re: drag racing
The heads up races I enter average $2500 to the winner and I only have to make 6-7 passes to win including qualifying. When I bracket raced I once won a Super Pro race (foot braking) with 3 time trials and 9 rounds of bracket racing. I won $4500 and it cost me almost $1000 by the time I paid for the trip, fuel, tires, food, beer for my buddies, and other misc junk.
of course back then it didn't cost me $54 everytime the hotrod went down the track either.

Profit
If 'ya want to bracket race start small and race a few tracks near 'ya.
That is my plan but I can't take credit for it that is what a few guys I hang wit have been do'n for years.
They know their cars as well as they know their wives.
Dragway 42 (West Salem,OH) is a good cheap track to cut 'yer teeth on.
Just my $.02

Re: drag racing
Don't think your going to throw a car together and go win races consistantly racing against veteran bracket racers....It ain't gonna happen. I've won alot of races over the years, big & small, but it took some seat time to do it, and I had the best teachers in the business that taught me when i was to young to even drive. i knew the game well before i started driving and it still took time to win.Hell ,I still invent new ways to lose all the time My best year was 2004 , I was in 17 Super Pro finals and won 15 of them. Raced 2 or 3 nights a weekend, won 2 big money races that summer and 2 points titles the same year. You gotta have a killer car and know the games I've got a few tricks with my ole Mustang,it pisses a few racers off ,but it's all legal
