Good deal!! Glad you had fun, it is an addiction!!

You can pull the spark plugs and see if any are lean, if you run it lean you will melt holes in the pistons!!

The mixture screws on the side of the carb are for idle only, you may need to jet it a bit richer. Its all part of the fun!!

There are two big screws in the front of the carb. Its an Edelbrock 650, those are just for the a/f mixture at idle?

Yeah the front screws are idle mixture. Are you running a single plane intake or dual? Have you ever had the carb apart to verify what jets are in it on all four corners? Might be time to pick up one of Vic's tuning kits to have the stuff on hand to make her run good...

Its a dual plane performer rpm. The guy said that part of the problem was the dual plane. The carb is stock so I don't know, I'll have to get the number off of it. As for re jetting, I thought those edelbrock's only had two jets, one on the left and right in the center. Would I have to add more jetting to the right rear than what the front has?

This is all I have for now, photobucket is horrible with videos. Mad This is the one I lost, I have another video of this race from inside the car. You can't se me walking up on him though. Plus I hate how my mom video tapes the races, I told her to go to MY time. Not the other racers, but she always goes to theirs, then tries to get mine, but by then its not up anymore. Mad Mad

Don't the Edelbrock carbs use metering rods?

Yes, they do. But I have never messed with them...........yet. When I was talking about the jets, I knew that they were the rods unlike the Holley's. But they look like they are easy to change out. I hate edelbrock, just polished over Carter's.

Yes, the Edelbrock (Carter design) carbs use jets, and metering rods for mid-range fueling. Edel carbs have jets on all four corners, that's why I asked about the jetting...You may be able to fatten up the rear jets, but running a dual-plane you may find you have to fatten up to make up for the lean cylinders, at the cost of optimum power in the others...

All I want is to have all the cylinders running equal without having to replace the pistons. Would I be able to do that by jetting it?

Yes, you need to tune to the leanest cylinder with that intake and carb. You will realize that for most people the edlebrock carb is great. You can buy the adjustment kit from edelbrock. It comes with very detailed instructions. I recommend it.

I used an Edelbrock 750 manual choke carb on my Maverick bracket car for 5 seasons. It ran 11.38-11.41 depending on time of year very consistantly with a mild 302.

New one. https://s976.photobucket.com/albums/ae245/bb429power/?action=view&current=MVI_0327.flv

The best run with the cougar. Still slow, its got the original P.O.S FMX and torque converter. Plus it wasn't shifting good, so that slowed it down. I know it can run 12's with bigger tires and a c6 + 2500 or more stall. I'm starting to think it could pull the wheels with the way it was launching.
