New guy from ND
Hey everyone, my name is Josh. I was told to come check this site out, so I did. I spend most of my online time between different truck sites, mainly NWUonline.com and FordTruckFanatics.com
I just got a good deal (hopefully) on a 460 and a C6 out of a 76 Grand Marquis. Bought it sight unseen for $100. Its "supposed" to be in good shape, and for the price I couldn't pass it up. I should be going to pick it up next weekend, then I will see if I got lucky or screwed.
I picked it up to replace the tired 351M and shot C6 in my 77 F250. I am looking to make a nice little hot rod truck.
I look forward to learning a bunch as this will be my first engine build.
Here is a picture of the F250:

Nice looking truck, ThndrChkn! I love it!
Thats exactly what I was thinking about the motor. Even if the block is shot, there is more than $100 of individual parts there.
I actually think that the dad just wanted it out of there. It was the sons, but the dad put the ad out.

Re: New guy from ND
I got the motor picked up yesterday. Looks decent, but looks can be deceiving. Previous owner said it was running when parked (couple years ago), but pulled it out of the 76 Grand Marquis last week and replaced it with a 350 to use as a derby car. haha
It has D3 heads, I was hoping for anything but D2s, so I am happy. If it was D2s I was planning on going with aluminum heads. I think I will just put that money into a good head job on the iron heads.

Re: New guy from ND
I wish had the money at the time ( 1989 ). My buddy in the Air Force, picked up a groundup resto 406 tripower 4spd 63 1/2 Galaxie and an unrestored 63 1/2 390 police intercepter bench seat four speed hardtop for $5,500. My brother ( patfromjersey ) and I still throwup today thinking of those cars. Plus he picked up a shed full of NOS galaxie parts and an extra 390 tripower motor.Local guy in Minot was moving to Atlanta.

Thanks for the welcome!
Here is the engine, better late than never, right?
D3VE heads, not a horrible starting point I guess.

Re: New guy from ND
Step one-Ditch the Fram. Its a good starting point, take the block to your local shop and have it acid dipped and then start the build from there. That's if your going to completely rebuild it.
