Jomar Stud Girdle #1145
I am having a few issues putting my 502 back together. This time paying very close attention to the valvetrain.
I have the later A429 cylinder heads. New valves, springs, retainers, locks, guide plates and rocker studs.
Jomar stud girdle #1145.
I am fitting the rocker arms ( Crower stainless ), and noticed the Jomar stud girdle doesn't fit as well as I would have thought they would. I have attached a few pics. The 4 exhaust studs seem to line up and fit with the girdle - the angles
and separation seem OK. Now all 4 intake studs seem to be spaced correctly but at a slightly different angle (see pics)
There is a gap present. Has anyone seen this before? I can certainly tighen up the stud girdle - which would "bend" the intake studs?
Any ideas?

MIGHT HAVE AN IDEA......
Just a thought...
What are the Serial Numbers of your heads?
There is a series of heads (roughly S/N 2000 -5000) that were machined slightly different and we make a Stud Girdle P/N 1144 to fit those heads. (Alan Root vs. Jack Roush or something like that.)
Your picture looks exactly like what we would see with the wrong bars.
give us a call at 248-322-3080 and we can discuss it.

PS.... CHECK THE ADJUSTMENT NUTS FOR RUNOUT!!!
Just because they don't look like Jomar parts! (and there are some copies out there with a lot of runout)

Post the seriel # of your heads they have a couple different sets of girdles for them. I have a set with the clipping problems and it takes it's own girdle....

Two words CALL THEM, but have plenty of time when you do. I had one break a adjusting nut and called to get a new set. An hour and a half later I had a new set ordered and a few more hours of checking to do, studs, rockers. They will go through everything with you to check to make sure that you have the right girdle in the end. They are some A++ guys.

Re: Jomar Stud Girdle #1145
The issue (I think) is that I have a set of late heads that are machined like the #2000 to #5000 A429 heads.
I will find out when the 1144 stud girdle arrives - hopefully it fits.
