ADVISE ON COMBO Empty ADVISE ON COMBO

Post  FORDZILLA April 20th 2010, 8:30 pm

472 c-8 heads. My motor has ran a 6.93 1/8 mile with a c-4 3.73 gear. I will tell you what I am changing and want to hear your comments. Thanks in advance.

The good.(I hope)
Port o sonic dommy intake with an 2" 4150 adaptor. Now victor 4150
hydraulic cam- Now solid with similar specs
shorty d&d headers 1 7/8". Now hooker full length 2"
Roller tip rockers. Now full roller rockers.

The bad (I think). I have a c-6 with no brake and a 4.30 gear

The car is a foxbody with all the bells and whistles.

The 4:30 gears will help but we need more info on the cam, compression etc. Is this for show or go? My foxbody with a 460 A-429 heads with a C-460 hyd. cam and 3:89 gears with a C-4 with 4000 stall, has been 6.55@ 103+ in the 1/8. Victor intake with 850cfm carb. 10.375 in the quarter with 1.39 sixty foot.

bitchen coupe! all you'v done is a plus, the 4.30's may be the best help but it'll depend on how hard you twist it.not having a brake in the trans dont mean much.if the converter's rite it'll 60' just as good without it and be less trouble to hook. 8)what's with the orange paint on the engine? Surprised

Lem Evans recommended a Comp cam part # 344-652-5 solid lifter for my engine. Cam is ground on a 108 instead of 110 like the C-460 cam. Have yet to get it to the track but I can't wait. Going to race Sunday and it is supposed to rain! Mad I footbrake the C-4, which was built by Pro-transmissions Is that a vacuum brake booster I see? Might have a little trouble there but not sure, what kind of vacuum the Comp cam has.

When you get the chance, have the intake ports of your C8 heads "Victor" port matched ...

Brake booster is gone now. C-8 heads will be victor matched this weekend. I will order my victor 4150 from Lem friday I might inquire about a cam like the afore mentioned. Cause I haven't bought one yet. Thanks guys for your input. Khris.

if this is a drag only car get rid of the heater core and complete box under the dash. I still see that stuff poking out. It is pretty heavy.

For the extra $20.00 or so, I would opt for a "custom" camshaft grind. Most catalogue solid lifter grinds are based upon a big block Chevy and don't EXACTLY match the Ford characteristics.

O.K I have searched with no answers. When I port match the c-8 heads to a victor port match witch gaskets do I go by C/J. I know they are not cj size ports but cj centers?? Whats the best way to do it???

Matt,

The Fel-Pro #1247 gasket is for a Medium Rise 390Gt.I almost think they call for the Fel-Pro 1231 Cj gasket but not sure.If not it should be the Fel-Pro 1230 gasket.Did you buy the intake new or used if new the should have been directions with it.FYI if you plan on not having your intake off for long time don't use the 1230 or 1231 gaskets they distort after awhile.

Later Mark.

As has been said in other places ... there is NO specific gasket in the marketplace to be bought for that "port matching" opperation.
A regular C8VE sized gasket is to small and a CJ gasket is to big.

A template must be made to do it RIGHT. There is no other way to get around it.
Use a CJ gasket for assembly.
