Keeps cost of production down when manufacturers can interchange parts. Chevy's aren't the only ones that have common parts. Try to put BBC stuff on a SBC and see what happens.

I kinda like it seeing as i can transfer some of the parts over to the 557 after a proper checking and what not
Honestly, after comparing a ford big block to a chevy i do not know why someone would pick a chevy big block

Must be! i mean for starters the deck height of a standard 396/454 block is very short and the distance from the crank throw and the camshaft is very tight. 700+ lift and you have lobes EXTREMELY close to the crank throw. strokers are only possible after a ton of machine work to the block.

i really believe that people read to much into what tv (horspowertv) and mags say, i get a kick out of when hp tv build a 454 motor and get xxx power then do a ford with less heads..less carb..less intake and tell everyone how the chevy is so much better

On swaping roller lifters between 351C and BBF. Note that the tie bars are diferent lengths, the 351's are shorter. ALWAYS check at full lift to see if there is slack BEFORE you button it up. With Comp Cams, they list several diferent lengths and are available separately.

I figured as much so that was the first thing i checked out. already got the new tie bars in. i kinda like the bbf lifters in a 351 cause you can run a larger pushrod. havent checked at full lift yet didnt think about that part. Thanks for the heads up!
