The DOVE A block will support that horsepower level with ease. No worries. We ran one with 4 bolt mains at the 950 hp level for several years.

Is the 2 bolt dove a block common? What would it have been from factory? I'm thinking 429 maybe? Is 521cu over kill for what im looking for? does anyone know what the kassie heads are like for a street engine or would i be better of with svo cobra jet alloy heads instead? Sorry for all the questions but i haven't had much to do with big blocks as i run a cleveland in my car there still really popular here in Australia!

If you only want 500ish hp you won't need 521 inches. A 10:1 429 will get you what your asking for and spare you tires alot of punishment !

Dove 2 bolt blocks aren't real rare, they are regular producroon and cobra jet stuff. But they are the easiest production bloct to convert to 4 bolt mains.

im hoping for 550-580hp! Benn thinking of a standard 460 crank and a set of h-beam rods and an srp or probe piston! Not shore weather to run a solid tappit cam or a roller cam

I still want to build a boss9 but not shore if there too big for the power i'm chasing? From what every one is telling me my block is fine so I'll go with it! I'm thinking 466cu and the boss9 heads unless i could find a good 429 crank and mybe some good aftermarket rod to suit a 429 does anyone make them?

I think Freelander ... dfree383 ... has an entire aftermarket Boss 429 rotating assembly for sale.
The engine where that came from just recently had an article about it in Hot Rod magazine.
It should be "right up your alley".

Not being a smart ass here, but if price is a consideration, you don't want to build a Boss combination......
