pretty cool set of rules for a 10.5" heads up class .... this one will be at beech bend

Scales will be used during race.

1. Tire size limited to 28 x 10.5 non W slick. 275 x 60 drag radial. 28 x 11.5 et street.

2. Class to run off 400 pro tree.

3. Pairings will be drawn each round to determine opponent.

4. Only one bye run per car during eliminations.

5. Power adder is limited to one stage of nitrous on plate or fogger for v-8 motors.

6. Cast Intake Only

7. 6 cylinders limited to 106m turbo at 3000 minimum weight.

8. 4 cylinders are allowed turbo and one stage of nitrous unlimited with a minimum weight of 2800 lbs.

9. Suspension must have stock frame rails that can be notched.

10. Mini tubs are allowed.

11. Coil springs can be moved inward for tire clearance.

12. Ladder bars and coil overs are allowed.

13. No four link or back half cars allowed.
14. Fiberglass is limited to hood, bumpers, and deck lid. No lexan allowed except trucks with rear roll bar exit.

15. SB N/A 2800lbs
BB Conventional headed 3000lbs
BB NonConventional headed 3200lbs
ADD 50lbs for MULTIIPLE CARBS N/A ONLY


SB NOS 3000lbs
BB NOS CONVENTIONAL HEAD 3200lbs
BB NOS NON CONVENTIONAL HEAD 3400lbs
ONE CARB ONLY ON NOS COMBO'S

SB TURBO UP to 88mm 3300lbs
SB TURBO UP to 98mm 3450lbs

SB F1R 3200lbs
SB F2 3300lbs

16. BB TURBO/BLOWER 3550lbs

17. Must have stock appearing interior with two racing seats.
18. No wheelie bars.

19. Rear wings are allowed.

20. $100.00 buy in with 80% payout to winner and 20% to runner up.
21. Rules will be adjusted if a combo shows a advantage over others.

They left off, every car must have a engine diaper, these combos leave a trail of oil on the tracks.

You guys can knock it if you like, but this is pretty much the norm for these type deals.

They had the first Oklahoma True Ten Five race a few weeks back, I was there getting my cert and making some test runs..............this was a deal run with the reg bracket deal.............I have not seen the likes of cars and SPECTATORS at TV in a long time...........in fact it was Divisional caliber type crowds.

Plain and simple heads up cars bring in the peolpe, they had a reg bracket race last sat and there were like 10 people in the stands.


My only gripe is they wont allow a W tire, so I cant go play with them lol.

a cheap set of wheels is 500 bucks, i got this funky offset deal.............which i will remedy this winter with a new housing and shorter axles etc.

I have the 10.5 w's and my 31.25x12.2 mounted on their own rims, guess which tire is faster................and they weigh exactly the same lol. The diff in the W and the non w is less than an inch.

Hell my 4.57 gear is coming out and the 4.86 going back in, I plan to go to the prostreet shootout and run outlaw, they have a B class now so if anything I'll get my entry back, plan on testing the 2 sets of tires with that gear swap, and some M5 to boot lol.

I still dont understand the no wheelie bar thing. To me its a safety issue. I get that the SS 10.5 thing is hot right now and crowds love it. The problem I have is w/ a BB nitrous combo without bars. My car is very mild and would work on a 10.5 tire, but without bars and wanting to be competitive I would have to be on the bumper for 400 feet to be out on a turbo car enough to get the stripe once they start reeling me in, and none of these sanctioning bodies pay enough to have an endless suply of headers, oil pans, and suspension parts. I guess Im just waiting for it to come full circle and crowds wanting to see slow backhalf big tire cars again. Rolling Eyes

I am tired of the wheelie bar thing. I've argued that we needed them for about 5 years in our org but nobody wants to listen. They tell me that it's just part of it and bars are for sissy's. If you can't keep that thing on the ground it's your fault. bla, bla, bla.

Funny thing is (well not so funny), at one of the last meetings we had about this last year a guy was making fun of my slow car getting on the bumper ONE time last year (and it was my greedy fault because I was trying to run a number). The next race he goes out with his roots blown sbc and stands it on the bumper and breaks all kinds of junk in the front end including busting the transmission pan. He now wants wheelie bars. I told him, "they are for sissy's and that is just part of it." He didn't think that was too funny. Very Happy

but I still wouldn't mind running them on the car. we have them set so high that they are more or less like training wheels and not really a tuning aid. We have not tested them for that, yet. Wink

I guess being from the Chicago area, Im 10.5d out. I can swing a cat and hit 6 10.5 deals. They have basically turned cars like mine in either Index, Bracket, or cruisenight cars. Sure theres NPS, Outlaw 10.5, and outlaw S/S stuff around, but its dying too. Hell even the Bash has a 10.5 only deal this year, so Im hauling down 6 hours to TNT and spectate I guess.

I guess Im a sissy then. If someone wants to pay me for my time fixing parts, and pay for the parts Ill be happy to take them off and let my parachute mount keep me from flipping over...

I am too. the guys that call me a sissy for wanting them are the ones who are breaking stuff. I don't run them or need them but if I could I would for insurance. I do for tuning but they are set very high and we haven't been on them yet. I messed up my bumper twice now, that's where the name came from, from just a bad tune by me. we got too aggressive trying to run with guys with a lot more horsepower.

we are not worried about the starting line now but the 150-1/8 mile mark. most of the time we cross the line with the front tires very light. some pictures we have taken they are not turning.

we have to drive 2-5 hours to race every weekend because our local track is barely open so we might as well run classes that pay well. if that is 10.5 then that is what we will run. the last bracket race I ran I went to the finals got gready and went red (my fault) and won $500. That was 9 rounds because every 1st and 2nd round loser bought back plus the three time trials.
