I had a problem similar on my mallory i was running on my 351. If you can do a test on the condencer and check the points and the point gap on the dizzy. Also just a warning if you are using an accel pro stock coil you will need a balist resistor. Mine kept baking my condencer after about 10 minutes of running.

A stock type coil like you have in the pic with a points distributor is not going to generate a gigantic spark. If you can see the spark flash at the plug gap I would be looking for other issues.

Which firing order are you using? Timing set correctly? Valves set properly? Fuel in carb?

Exactly what does it do or not do when trying to start.

Amps could fry the condenser as well. Could be a bad coil.

Should also check the items that Bosshoss mentioned.

Probably should check his first lol

What is your points setting? Do you have or can borrow a dwell meter?

It appears from the picture above that you have the wires oriented in the correct order. 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

I would pull the dizzy and put engine #1 at TDC by either the finger test or a piston stop. Next rotate backward 10-15 degrees or so and reinstall the dizzy with the rotor facing the number one post in the cap. Is your pointer at the 11 o'clock position?
