Just figured something out.
It's a real PITA to type with only 9 fingers. Got a pile of stitches in both sides of my right index fimger. Little accident while bending some pipe for a roll cage in the mud truck. Had some pipe that was supposed to be all DOM and some seems to be C/M, because it won't bend in my bender. It just breaks. And then smashes my index finger. Gonna be fun welding tomorrow. I took a pic of it in the ER, the Doc and nurse were laughing at me. It's kinda nasty. Oh well, I guess I was due for that tetanus shot anyway.

Most i got was 11 under my eye not that long ago it seems like. I would get a ton of crap if I told you how I got them. No, but you would think I was. I also have pictures of the 1"X1/4" cut.

It is always a tough deal to hurt your hand. It makes everthing feel like trying to pick your nose with mittens on. It can be done but you got to want it.

If you can post a pics of the tubing sound to me like black pipe not a safe thing to put in your ride if you put it on its lid.

Re: Just figured something out.
Definately not plumbing pipe. It's called pump tube, and it's either C/M or DOM. It is the pipe that is used to pump the oil out of the ground.

Re: Just figured something out.
I doubt it's DOM or normalized 'moly if it's snapping in half in a tube bender. Sure DOM (and also HREW) & 'moly will be harder to bend than CREW ms, but it shouldn't snap in half when bent in a normal die/shoe type tube bender.
If it's breaking in half it still sounds more like "pipe" than "tubing". Or possibly that super rigid heat treated 'moly that's not supposed to be used for race cars.

Rob,
Get the correct tubing,( I know, you already have this), and thank me later, the heat treat on oil field tube isn't the same as MS tube. If it's snapping off in your bender, it will do the same if you ever put the truck on it's lid. You don't need those kinds of problems! Just my$.02....

Re: Just figured something out.
Easy here guys. The pipe that is breaking isn't going in the truck. The other pipe that is bending is true DOM steel tubing. Yes it is mild steel, but what testing I have done on it, it will support the truck in the event of a rollover. We aren't going that fast, and we are landing on soft stuff. Heck if I was drag racing at the speed we operate at, I probably wouldn't even need a lap belt. We rarely get over 65-70mph true ground speed in this class. Sure tire speed is over 100mph, but there is a lot of slippage.
