The brakes and rotors alone should lighten it up a bunch. Be curious to see how much. Looks good!

I like the fixture that mounts to the hubs to locate the struts.

Re: chassis gets a new look
that was a good deal i got on ebay it paid for itself today.it's realy for bending struts for alignment but it worked very good for this.i do frame work for a living so anytime i come across a deal on any related tooling i try to get it.Nevs wrote:I like the fixture that mounts to the hubs to locate the struts.

Sure takes all the guess work out of it. What a time saver as well. Cool deal.

Re: chassis gets a new look
Nice work.
Is that a Chassis Engineering kit? The top strut mounting plates kinda look like their stuff. If you set the front lower, will it be much work to lower the back end too?

yes it is,and it's went well so far.i'm gona let it down at least 2" in the back too.with the old frontend i couldnt let it down as low as i wanted but i planned to later so i can go down 2-4"in the back if i need to.i didnt get any instructions with this kit and dont know what some parts are for, duh, one thing looks kinda like a hook, like you would weld up front to slide the front cap into?it's gona be.lolDILLIGASDAVE wrote:Nice work.

Got a guy's,What is the advantage of a strut setup over a coilover deal other than the weight saving

I thought CE always used the tube-in-a-tube slip fit joint for mounting the front end tree vs the hook/fork bracket type setup? Maybe not.
Post a pic of the bracket in question.

Much more header room on this type of car because with struts you don't have to deal with a top control arm being in the way.

Re: chassis gets a new look
i'll get pic's tomarrow of the brackets.i had a bbf in a this car with a stock frontend years ago and i never wanted to be crowded for engine room again.strut's give you plenty of room for oil pans too.

Very nice looking set up! The second pic, where there is just the firewall is when you stand back and say "There's no turning back now!!"
Did you loose much suspension travel? I see you had limiter chains on the old deal, I guess the new one should control the front end better.

HHaaaH! My thoughts exactly. When I dropped the frame off my truck, I looked at it for a second and thought, well dummy, now ya "gotta" get somethin' done.
Lookin' good man. Keep us posted.

Re: chassis gets a new look
My guess is the bottom ones are front engine plate tabs to weld to the strut supports. Not sure about the small ones.....

Re: chassis gets a new look
i forgot to mention the new strut's weigh 25lbs with all the brakes,a frame and bolts.the old fox mustang setup with all the same parts,as i ran them, were 50lbs.i see a 50lbs weight loss = faster mustang.

Re: chassis gets a new look
The longer brackets are the front motor plate mount brackets that still need two 3/8" mounting holes drilled each. The smaller hook shaped brackets are the front motor plate bracket's seats/saddles that the motor plate sits on. They help carry part of the load so the bolts don't have to do all the work by them selves.
