10MM V.S. .357 Magnum
Guys I am considering a S&W .357 mag with a 4-6 inch barrell or a Glock 20 or 20C 10mm.
This gun is for next seasons 'Gator & Boar hunt & Home Defense.
Which do you 'fellas recommend?
P.S. I own a snub nosed EAA .357 mag wheel gun already.

The 10mm is one nasty dude, I've shot a couple of them. Never been around the Glock 10's, but the S&W and Colt stuff is a handfull to shoot. I remember Ted Nugent over in Africa goin after a Cape Buffalo with one of his arrows in it and carrying IIRC a Delta Elite 10mm with steel penentrators. If Ted has that kind of confidence in it, I'm all ears.

10MM .
The only problem is getting ammo.
Bought a STI perfect 10 last year and it is best of both worlds, large mag capacity and big power.

I don't know about the 10mm but the 40 cal is pretty nice. I have that in a glock. I have a barrel for 357sig and one for the 40.

A friend of mine has a S&W Model 1006. That is a very nice handgun and shoots straight and hits hard! I would love for him to come off of it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I also like the Glock .40 as I have and carry either my 23 or 27. For hunting, I would take at least a .45. Just a tad more knockdown

Re: 10MM V.S. .357 Magnum
.357 6" wheel gun for hunting / home is hard to beat, lots of ammo avaliable (can shot .38 special too), easy to reload, 100% reliability and very accurate. Plus they have alot of cool options from the custom shop on them, things such a siloutte sights, custom grips, triggers, scopes mounts, ect.
10mm's one hell of a caliber, but its very expensive to shoot and a second quick follow up shot is difficult due to recoil. Plus ammo / bullet avalibility is limited.

I agree with the expense of shooting a large caliber, kinda like feeding these damn engines! Bigger is better................... AND more expensive

Re: 10MM V.S. .357 Magnum
Myself, I would use the .357 Magnum for both. But that's just me, as I'm a revolver guy anyway. I took a whittail doe @ 182 yds. with a 4" Colt Python loaded with Hornady 158 gr XTP's. If you don't mind the report of the .357, it's still by far the best all around hunting/defense caliber. As for the slide guns, I'd use nothing less than a .45. I has more knockdown power than any of the 9's, 10's, and even the 40 S&W. Now if you're looking at paper ballistics, they "say" the 40 is equal to the .45 because they both shott 180-185 gr bullets @ about 800 fps. But you can't argue with bullet mass. Think about it, would you rather be hit in the chest by a 70 mph golfball, or a 70 mph softball? I like the theory, "I shoot a .45, because shooting twice is just silly!"

Plus if you can't hit it with a 45 cuz about 50 ft is about it on range you can throw the POS at them do about as much good ....

10MM Longslide
Wish I could afford a longslide 1911 in 10MM.
Reider makes one for about $2600 and Fusion makes a kit for around $900.
EAA has a longslide CZ type auto but that stainless Steel 6 inch barrelled S&W .357 Mag sure is purty.
