I brought my daughter a 90 hatchback.that has been sitting for 5 years .2.3 4banger aod car ...we got car running transmisson seems to fine with some exception front seal is leaking....but here. Is another problem when you put it gear from park to drive or reverse..it doesn't glide in gear it jerks. Could this be a torque convertor? It acts as if it is locked up.

aod does not use a clutch in the converter, might just be from sitting, valves sticking etc. Might change the fluid and give it some drive time. Make sure the tv cable is connected, and works free without binding etc.

A 2.3 car should have an A4LD,check the vacuum hose to the vacuum modulator.Make sure you have manifold vacuum at the trans when the engine is running. Also there shouldn't be any fluid in the hose,if there is the modulator is bad.
