Spot on correct. The D3, DO, C9, C8 are all basically the same as far as performance capability. These heads properly set up will top out around 700+hp. The D2OE(Police Interceptor) and DOOE-R(Cobra Jet)are the better heads, in that order. The DOOE-R heads will do over 800hp properly set up.cool40 wrote:same as most cast heads.pi's and cj's are better than the rest of the cast heads,i think.somebody will tell me if i'm wrong.

"best" is purely based on your application.
as far as power making ability....
1 .......CJ (D0OE)
2A .....PI(D2OE)
2B..... Early Castings, C8,C9,D0VE
3....... D3VE,E6TE,E8TE
4....... F3TE, E7TE
5....... D2VE
I dont know if PI's actually would make more power than early heads because of the chamber size issue.
(assuming both are max effort)
ALL are capable heads in the right environment.

Yeah I'm up against on what I want to do I hear so many different things between the dove heads and the c9 heads I'm not really gonna be doin to much to the 460 that I have and I'm puttin a 520 flat top lifter cam so its not like I'm gonna be really goin all out with it considering what the prices are for big block stuff.

If you are going to do this for a daily driver or cruizer deal, the passenger car heads are the way to go, Leave the PI's and CJ's for racing. The C9's and DO's are the same head so don't sweat that. If you are looking at more of a pump gas engine, a good set of D3's with their larger combustion chambers make piston selection a little easier. Stay around 9:1 C/R for easy tune and pump gas reliability.
