Hey Rick make sure you check your tranny real good after that deal.... When the pinion punches out like that it can crack the tail housing and or do internal damage to the trans. Those stock pinion supports will fail like that when you load them up hard. Did my first one like that about thirty years ago now. It dont matter if the driveshaft is steel or unobtianium its going to fold in half when that pinion comes out like that.

Randy

Outdated information, Randy. We ran an aluminum driveshaft in our Pro 5.0 car,2550#, 5 speed Liberty, 815" hemi, 1800 horsepower,34.5X17" Goodyears, no breakage. Don't blame the driveshaft for a rear end failure, that's what started this chain of events. Place the blame where it belongs............ Idea

No argument on the aftermarket pinion support Randy, Mark Williams 3.81 bore thru bolt case, 40 spline spool combo for me. Weakest link always goes first, like that's a revelation............... Wink

Pulled the carnage out of the housing today. Lookes like the previous owner wasn't real truthful about the parts. Stock N case (not strange) . It did have Moser axles and a strange spool w/richmond 4.56 gears. When the pinion support let go it destroyed the N case also. The Tranny looks to be fine from what I can see, thanks to all the extra loops. It just took out the weakest link,if there's more i'm sure this power plant will find them.

Are you guys running a 9" or 9 1/2" gear in that big bore case?
