Just out of the VA Hosptal..
Well as some of you guys know..the last couple years I had been loosing power in my left leg.. Well the wife and I were down at the hospital at 5:am this morning for a Angioscan , just to see what the hell was going , Its started a couple years ago driving 18 wheeler and tossing some freight, that the left leg would go out on me..then it got bad enough where I couldnt walk out to the mail box a 100 ft from the house.. Well they found a blood clot in the main Artery of my leg that was 4" long..and it took them the best part of 2 hrs to bust it up and get it cleaned out..So now a few weeks of some R&R and some therapy and I should bebach to driving a clutch vehicle again..

Re: Just out of the VA Hosptal..
Well my Compadre's thanks ever so much for the well wish's and prayer's !! As it meens alot to this Old Country Coot ! Erv, Dano, Dave, Steve, Dave, Red, Schmitty, and last but not least Curt Nice card by the way Curt. you should have been an Artist !!
Yeah I really didnt know how deep of Sh*t I was in for the last couple of years , Until the first operation of taking a first joint out of my big left toe, and not having a problem with sugar, I was kind of freaking out at my ripe old age of 55 come August... so then they wanted to go into my ankle for exploritory surgery, and I stopped the Bus on that..and told them to read all my paper work and look at all my MRI's and Cat scans etc...that it had been over 2 years of this crap..and the problem to me was getting worse in leaps and bounds..Not just something that was slowly creaping up on me.. and Thank God, the Head of Vascular Surgery listened to what I had to say..
I told him that when was driving truck and had to occationally unload the contents of the trailer..I didnt have any problem keeping up with the youngbucks at 35 years Old...and towards the end of that job I was having to short shift the tractor during the day just to make it thru an 8hr shift.. So when my toe started turning purple with blck spots in it...I knew this was about the last straw and something needed to be done and real quick..So I went to the ER one morning... We hung around there for 6 1/2 hrs..and when I saw the doc and he saw my foot...He wanted the Podiatry Surgeon to look at it again.. So they made my appt. for another 6 weeks out.. and st that time the painwas so bad..that they had to take me off the Percoset pills and put me on a ER (extended release) Morphine pill every 4 hrs and still sent my ass home..So after being home a few days and still only getting an hour or so of sleep (15 min max) at a time...I called the Vascular surgeon myself and went thru the back door per say..I found out what days he was in surgery and called the O.R. reception desk and left a message for him to call my cell phone..well he just happened to return my phone call that evening from his office..and pulled my records up for review..and told me over the phone how the sam hell did we miss this ??
Got me in on an Emergency Angioscan yesterday morning...as he would have to come in an hour early to get to use the machine, and if he indeed found something would need some of the surgical nurse's to help in the operation..and 4 of them volunteered to stay after there shift was over..Just to help this Old fart out ! In which they will all get Cards today with Outback gift cars in them for there time and my Big thanks !
Being it was Day surgery and not in the O.R. I could only get a limited amount of pain meds in the Dripper..So I was awake the whole time and watched what all I could see.... As he was scanning i could see all the smaller veins..and I made the comment on how clean I thought they all looked...then the screen turned black..aas he was up in magification...he backed off..and it was the main artery...He stopped and said now this is what I was looking for...he backed the zoom out until he could see light on both side of the vein...and then pulled the zoom out more where he could see the top and bottom of where the clot was and how long it was...4"s long.. It took him the best part of 2 hours to cut thru it and clean the area up as to keep the piece's out of my blood stream..
Well I just wanted to say thanks to my family and my Hotrod Buds for all the thoughts and prayers ! For getting my ass out of this one.. So they put me on Plavix for 90 days along with my other 2 B pills..and hpefully in 3 months..I'll be able to get off of all the BP meds...which will be cool..Just thank God that a piece of this clot didnt break off out of all the physical work i have been doing the last 2 years, and go straight to the brain or th heart ? It could have had a quite different out come...
I just wanted to write a little back ground on what was up at this end..as like I said some of you knew, and others hadnt a clue..So I wanted the whole story out there..so guys...keep an eye on your BP and any feeling you have in your limbs that dont quit just feel right, even if it goes way the next day, Please dont just blow it off..
Once again, God Bless and thank you All....one of these days I will see y'all at the track and we will have a beer together !!
