offset ford 9 inch hogshead ?
what is the offset so I can center the pinion ? This is for a trike project. Whats the narrowest 9 inch you have ever seen?

If you get an early style housing the center section of the housing is the smallest. Currie also makes a new one like it for street rods. These would be the best for what you want to do. Rear ends in a dragster are just barely wider than the housing itself so that would be your limiting factor.

This will be a "hardtail" 2x3 welded to housing. frame rails about 24 inches apart or less. Narrowest I can go would be 1 side 1inch away from center section and other side 1 inch plus offset.

the off set on my pinion was 1 3/4"

ues a 8'' rear, more ground clearance for ya,smaller ,lighter, u could narrow a 8 to 24'' w/drum brakes,maybe a little wider,but could be made very narrow non the less

What are you using for a reference point?
When I jig mine I measure everything from the pinion centerline out.
Pretty tough to tell otherwise most stock deals are offet to the pass side from the factory. Its easy to get confused if you are trying to work backwards from the bearing ends or spring perches.
I use a stripped old stock center section that I have laying around.
