What ignition pickup to use?
Hello,
I've got some questions about installing an aftermarket ECU for my 460 BB.
I want to set the ECU for wasted spark, and delete the distributor.
Now, there are 2 points i need some advice about.
One is, how to delete the distributor, and still drive the oilpump? (i know MSD made a unit in the past to do such, but they don't make it anymore as far as i know of.)
Second, which trigger or pickup to choose?
I know some use the 36-1 trigger toothwheel at the harmonic damper, but i wonder if there's a better or nicer solution to this?
Any info appreciated, thank you.

Whose coil packs are you using? You could check with Electromotive as they make distributorless systems. They might have a crank trigger setup for a BBF but I have never looked myself. They use a 60 tooth wheel. If you are planning on using stock Ford coils there is some information on one of the mega squirt sites but I couldn't find a link for you. Maybe someone else will post it.

diyautotune has the wheels cheap enough....
you can use a EDIS system and WITHOUT a ecm and achieve a fixed timing, wasted spark, DIS system
you can gut your existing distrubutor and let it drive the oil pump
using a distributor as a core build your own dummy shaft setup
or switch to belt drive wet or dry sump system
