Got my hands dirty today....
Well, I volunteered to help a friend of mine get our track at the airport ready for the races @ The Blast from The Past carshow & drag races. After alot of discussion from the local know-it-alls, I decided to call the ONE guy I could trust to help me with the track prep. After a brief phone call to Phillip Oakley, and picking his brain a little, we hit the ground running this afternoon. We have some slicks to use for dragging, but we started today with a "1500 lbs". tire from an earth mover/scraper. Here's a pic of me passing the starting line area at 40 mph behind my '99 Super Duty Powerstroke. Needless to say, that monster tire will lay down the rubber
This pic is about 1/2 hour into the draggin'
This one is about 2 hrs. in.
3 hrs. in.
4 hrs. in, and done for the night.
We traded off with our rigs so one didn't get too hot. But after about 200 passes each way on both lanes, it's starting to take pretty good shape. We're gonna hit it again tomorrow and Saturday. And early Sunday, we're gonna have them blow it off with a jet blower, drag it about 3-4 passes on each lane and then start hittin' it with the VP Lane Choice traction compound. If we get it done as Phillip told me, it should work out really good. We're also having 4 alcohol Funny Cars here, so I want this to be a good show for the fans. I would like to thank Phillip Oakley for taking the time to help us with this. You da man.

Are you gonna race the truck? He says. I've been waitin' all winter for this. If I have to pull it by harness and chain, the Banana IS going down the track on Sunday.
