I can't wait to hear the responses on this, I have thought about buying one of these. I could not get your link to open, but I think this is what you were talking about http://www.themustangdepot.com/servlet/the-6/460%2C-ford%2C-stroker-kit%2C/Detail

I don't know, they're not vert specific about the parts......but if it has KB piston in it they ought not to use a picture with my box.

Judging from the piston weight it's a cast piston and if it's a 5140 rod, it's a through bolt rod.
7 to 800 horsepower? Not for long......

The price of the kit is toooo cheap. Buyer beware, you get what you pay for. IMO you should want better quality pistons other than the KB, probably a thinner ring package, and also better rods with the bolt upgrade.

to the OP . 700/800 HP goal , what is your plan for the parts that MAKE the HP ? heads , intake , cam , headers and a few more things that get you to your dream goal.. why I ask , is your looking at cheap (low cost) . save you from a stroke (pun) when you see that must be cost for a NA engine.

Kits probably fine for a 400-450 hp low rpm truck motor, but expect to resize rods and maybe cut the crank and don't forget the cost of balancing everything.

Re: the mustang depot 557 budget stroker kit.....is it any good for the $879?
Just wondering because it sounded to good to be true, my buddy got his kit and it's a piece of crap... Crank had to have weights added to balance it and two rods were bent, and this supposed to be new. I currently have a stock 69 Lincoln 460 engine with std bore and was going to rebuild it the heads are C9VE heads potted and polished by waynes engine rebuilding and a weiand dual plane stealth intake... The engine is going into a 69 fastback which I'm hoping will do maybe 9 sec.... Please help in getting me there!!!!

As Uncle Charlie said you get what you pay for. If you want to run in the 9's spend the money wisely. Many on this site can steer you in the right direction. A well built 460 will easily go nines. Get a good set of rods and pistons and spend the rest on a good set of heads and cam. Lem has a good deal on SCJ's and will fit your needs well. Hope this helps. Stay away from the cheap stuff. It will be nothing but headaches and you will spend more because after it blows up you will have to spend more to fix it. JMO for what it's worth. I'm running 10 teens with a crate motor bottom end.

What's done to your 69 chassis? Is it all factory ? What's it weigh?

Re: the mustang depot 557 budget stroker kit.....is it any good for the $879?
i ran one of those kits in the 521 flavor for 3 years as an expierement. i had a 4.3" crank, 6.7" rods and hyper-cast pistons. it balanced very easily. the jounal tolerances on the crank were spot on but the stroke length was not. there was a variation of about .018" between all four crank throughs. the 5140 through bolt rods were finished a little rough in the beams. after 2 seasons of racing it at about 600 hp and one day of use in my jet boat, i tore it down due to a burnt piston and found one con rod to be compressed about .100" (shorter) and bent a little.
i would put these kits in the same category as pro-comp heads. they are ok for the intended purpose. just dont expect them to be some thing that they are not.
i plan on using the crank in another build in the short future.

I've personally have witnessed low 9's in the quarter mile NA at just over 3,000 pounds however, the CAR has got to be RIGHT.dawoodman wrote:What's the fastest you can go on C9EV heads on a 466 setup?
