Hey guys,
i have a customer with a 521" with the new gen cj heads. Engine currently has a flat hydraulic cam and were wanting to switch to a mech roller. I was going to call Kaase on a cam recommendation due to them servicing the heads last year but, can anyone give me a recommendation on who to deal with or, any specific numbers and maybe idea on potential hp? I really want to help out a fellow bbf guy beat the shit out of some of the bbc junk around here so, please help!
btw..we will be tuning using a dynojet 248 with full aquisition.

The following combo is in a 67 coupe weighing 3050# with driver.
521" all forged, 10.3:1 c/r
hydraulic flat cam 601i/596e 245x255@.050
Alum Cj heads 2.25 x 1.7 with only minor port clean-up
Victor intake w/dominator flange
1050 Pro Systems carb
Msd digital ignition
c-4 trans w/ 3600 converter & pro brake.
10.5x28 et's
Cal-tracks
current set-up has went 10.34@ 130.2 w/1.42 60' no 2-step

If they are new generation CJ heads, they will be CNC engraved on the ends of the heads which are machined flat. A slight mistake in your post, is that new generation CJ heads have a 2.200" intake valve,,,,unless somebody has changed them. The BEST thing you can do to improve the flow of those heads, is to backcut the intake valves with a 30* backcut approximately .080" wide.

They are the FMS-M-6049-SCJA heads, 72 cc,Intake 290cc, Exhaust 148cc, Intake Valve Diameter (in) 2.200 in., Exhaust Valve Diameter (in) 1.760 in.
Outside Diameter of Outer Spring (in) 1.460 in. with 1.73 fms roller rockers, and jomar girdles (mild clean up w/ port matched to the victor intake)

you do know that the springs , cups , retainers and keepers will have to change for a roller cam?

X2 ... The only roller cams which can be used successfully with that valve spring arrangement is a mild street roller and it doesn't seem like that is the intention.
