need some info. please
my brother has a 1995 windstar 3.8 that he just replaced the Power Steering Return Hose on, and its leeking where the fitting go's in the rack.
just dripping to much to drive. think he cross threaded it. Ive got a broke rib so I can't get under it to change the rack. If he takes the line off at the other end and pumps dry is there any kind of epoxy that can be put around the fitting to stop it?? he doesn't have the $$ right now to take it to shop and have it fixed. Thanks for any help.

The lines should have a teflon sealing washer, sounds like it was pinched or left off, take the line back off and look at it to see if its there, dont use sealer, dont use epoxy, dont chase the threads.

yes it has the teflon washer and have put a new one on 3 times. even put two on once and then went back to one, still a little leak.
I think he cross threaded it because there is no room to work on it, he could barely reach it.it needs a new rack but he dosent have the cash to take it to shop to replace it, and I cant do it because of broken rib. thats way I asked about some epoxy that mite hold it for awhile.
the old line had a hole rubbed in the steel sec. from rubbing the frame where it goes up over the motor, I even cut that out and replaced it with a hose and had him put that back on, but it will only screw back in 1/2 hay, but the new one will go all the way in. he cross theaded it or that new china junk had a little diff. thread pitch on it?? dont know but it needs a new rack and I cant fix it for him right now.
isnt there some kind of epoxy that will work for awaile?

You might get away with wrapping a bit if teflon tape around it, if that dont work either repla e the rack or live with the leak.

The teflon ring nunber should be 388898-S.Make sure you soak it in hot water before you put it on,that way it will slide on easy without tearing it.They are smaller than the nut and have to be streched on.
