Remember the rumor that Shelby did a little side work (just prior to the Mustang) for Chevy on 20 Corvairs, "Type LT"?, for the long ago defunct Mexican race series known as "IRAM"? International Race Association de Mexico?

Cool, I went to the Ford World Headquarters for a car show the other day. There was a 69 mustang there that Chrysler had bought to design their cars off of like the challenger. Its cool to learn things like that.

I say Bull Shyt it has a 69 Mach 1 hood scoop and a Ricer spoiler on it which none of came out in 65...
The corvairs had some cars that had twin carbs ...

There was a collage girl back then her Dad lived in our town and she had a corvair with twin carbs and my dad use to tune it for her when she came home from Collage

I say it's B.S. too. In addition to the items Randy pointed out....By 1965, the Corvair was widely regarded as a miserable failure. At that time, I think Carroll Shelby was far too busy to waste any effort on a turd like that.

BTW, If that guy paid $400 for ANY Corvair, he got screwed.

Boy, does this bring back some fond memories. My Dad had owned two, and one he used to pull a 25ft. Owens Cabin Cruiser (boat was solid mahogany) on a tandem trailer he and a friend made. My older brother would take it to the old Savannah Dragway and race it on the weekends, Laughing Then I had a friend, his Dad owned one of the turbo models, let me tell you, that thing would haul ass. I saw one for sale a couple of months ago, if I had the money I would have bought it in a heart beat. It would have thrilled the hell out of my oldest brother.
