what is it
can anyone tell me what the aluminum box is for on the lower rad hose? I am having problems uploading a picture which would make this question a little easier, sorry!

sorry i am having problems posting a pic but in the (460 multi groove pulleys) thread it is in pictures from 89lx coupe. I will get the picture posting right yet!

Haven't seen that particular unit before, but it looks like an engine preheater to me. When installed in a lower hose, convection will carry hot water through the engine. Common in cold climates, sometimes at drag strips. Just my guess.

...then it is an oil cooler. This is the last style oil cooler to come on the F250's/F350's. It is made of stainless steel and has it's own tiny little "oil radiator" inside the steel box and which the cooled water passes through (just like the air that passes through the coolant radiator) before being taken up again by the waterpump.DFI429 wrote:
