Sponsorship and Proposals
Guy's I'm looking to try and pick some sponsors and was wondering what methods people have used in Submitting proposal to gain sponsors. We are looking for anything from fuel to oil, machine work and of course the all mighty dollar. I have a very good friend at a graphic company that many of you may have or not have heard of which is Fineline Graphics ( Owned by V.Gains) here in Colorado. My son has submitted an idea to them and they gave him some rough graph's and is in the process of talking to someone from his company to see if it can go farther. It's pretty cool what these guy's came up with but I can't put them on here until I have approval. I know that your trying to promote their product and would need to hand out brochures of some sort that would enable to track if was coming from you. ANs sign and banners of some sort and even the signage on the cars as well.

Re: Sponsorship and Proposals
The best way to get sponsorship is to show them how the money they are spending on you is making them more money. I have a couple of sponsors on my truck, one sponsored my block, another is the Cargill company which I do a lot of business with, and the other is my father's irrigation business. For each of them it is strictly advertising that they recieve, but when the truck is placing well and spectators are coming to check out the trophy trucks they always see the names. You will need to be a very outgoing person, and always smile and answer questions for the people who come to look at your ride.

Re: Sponsorship and Proposals
I agree with Rob. Generally, I'm a fairly shy person when it comes to public events. But like with the race I'm putting on in a few weeks up here, I just had to suck it up and hit the streets. I started with a written proposal that I presented to my bank, of all places. I figured, as much money as I've given them over the years, "maybe" they'd be willing to give some of it back, so-to-speak. For the most part, you need to tell them what they want to hear. Here's a copy of the proposal I presented to the bank. And they bit. They're interested in a possible long term deal for my future races, as well as the local Ford dealer. Although he couldn't help this year, he told me to come back in November so we can put it in his budget for next year. And he's interested in using the Banana as a promotional device for some of his sales events as well. Very If you wish, feel free to take from my write-up and modify to your needs. Good luck.
Proposal for 2010
Capital City Classic
“Gambler Drag Races”
To whom it may concern,
This is a letter of proposal in regards to sponsorship of the 1st Annual Capital City Classic “Gambler Drag Races to be held at the Rocky Mountain Emergency Services Training Center Driving Track on Sept. 4-5, 2010.
In speaking with Jeff Wadekamper, Asst. Director of the Helena Regional Airport, who has supported my efforts, and Pete Hartman, Coordinator of the Rocky Mountain Emergency Services Training Center Facility I have reserved the dates of September 4,5 on the schedule for the event. I have decided to put on, and run a drag racing event on Sept. 4-5, 2010 at the Rocky Mountain Emergency Services Training Center Driving Track facility. In the past, there have been 3 drag races held at the facility, and each year, there has been a substantial increase in interest and support from the Helena community.
I am contacting you at First Interstate Bank, in regards to a track sponsorship for the event. With F.I.B.’s support and influence, this event stands a greater chance of success in the community, as well as having the opportunity to be one of, if not THE biggest, of such events in the region, and possibly the entire Northwest. Including the many opportunities for F.I.B. to have a more complete exposure to the public eye, therefore increasing the possibilities of generating customers and revenue for F.I.B.
One of our goals for this event is to draw on KIDS & adults alike as an outreach, for them and to show them there is a safe place to race, and that it is not only highly illegal, but very dangerous to race on the streets/highways around the community. Also on the agenda, is to draw on other racers from around the state of Montana, as well as racers from other states in the Northwest region. In doing this, it greatly increases the chances of making this event the Premier venue that we are looking for in Helena, and increasing the chances of giving the kids, adults, and racers alike, the opportunity to go to theses events and race their cars in a very safe, and highly controlled environment. This not only makes our streets/highways safer, but our sponsors stand to benefit from it as well.
Not only do the sponsors stand to benefit, but the community as a whole. Gas stations, grocery stores, the mall, restaraunts, and hotels, as well as the Helena Regional Airport… All will benefit from the increased activity in the community at the time of the events.
Sincerely,
Doug Roope
