BIG TIRE CLASS OR 10.5W CLASS
Re: BIG TIRE CLASS FOR THE BASH?
Why screw up the tune we already have on our cars, the one we use every week-end, to satisfy other people, I'll just run the super pro race, and watch the small tire races, laugh at the way they have to fight, to stay between the green. [/quote]
You got that right Harold. Keep it simple, plus we dont need a "heads-up" bracket S/comp, S/Gas boring crap either....
Nick, you will get tired of spinning your tires down the track, and all that crap one day......

Tune your car to go as close to the index as possible without going faster and run "heads-up".
THEN it's mostly about the driver and tuner.
EDIT: I still se th 12" tread width rule as the most fair.
I was simply trying to justify it ... I don't particularly like it, LOL.
The 12" ruler tread width rule is a "road race" rule for stock APPEARING cars; (they use wide tires on the front, too).
Car count and being the most fair for the masses is all that I was concerned about. Whether I like it or not is definately immaterial.
Re: BIG TIRE CLASS FOR THE BASH?
How about this...Let any size tire run and, we will all take them over to the roundy-round track next door for a 50-lap feature......who's in?

Re: BIG TIRE CLASS FOR THE BASH?
Instead of worrying about all the tire size BS,we all need to get our heads together and find a way to up the car count at the Bash. Guy's,the only reason we are even having Bash'es is beacause of our sponsors, like Lem,Phillip,Adney etc. They damn sure aren't making any big money from it. Let's start a thread about ideas on how to pack the track w/cars and forum members.Just my opinion

I brought Bob Cochran last year and he's coming again if it happens. I got a couple more verbal promises for 2 more cars next year from the (Cheecago) area

Smoke runs
I just looked at some old 1950s or 60s dragster pictures where they smoked the tires for the whole pass.
Maybe I will step back to 1973 when I first raced my 58 and find a set of 7" cheater slicks, like I (borrowed and) used back then.
It hooked just fine with my old 427.
A "smoke run" may not be all bad?
The 7" were "big tires" back then..at least to me..
:-)

Keith,Kinda funny you mentioned this.Back in 73 I had a Maroon 57 custom 300 w/427 low riser and a 4speed.I had to trim the lips on the fenderwells to keep 9" M&H from rubbing.Sure do wish I had that car back.

I can envision a "stacker" trailer....your Falcon upstairs...and the '57 below....
The one that I got rid of and wished that I hadn't was a 1969 Mach 1 R car 428CJ shaker 4spd. I had this thing for less than a grand...got tired of it and let it go back in about 1977. That car would have skyrocketed in value about 10 years later.
Live and learn....

Keith, I had the same Mustang except with the automatic and it had every option available in '69, it was Metallic Green with Gold stripes. I could kick myself in the ass for letting it go!
