D9 block
hey Tim ,
so the block is all ready to build? , what all was done to the block machine wise, was it "decked" , what did he finish off the hone for ring type, and do you have any spec sheets on the work done, who did the mach, work, and would you consider just the block, I got plenty of extra parts , really dont need no more lol
thanxs Rick

Re: 460 block for sale
Flat tappet cam bearings. I am assuming the cylinders are honed for standard rings. (I guess it was a fool move on my end not to ask. All I had them do was clean, bore the block out, new cam bearings and freeze plugs.)
The reason I had the block bored was when I got the engine, it had sat in a truck with the hood up and one of the cylinders had some surface rust. .030 over standard bore was enough to get past the rust. Machine work was done by Superior Automotive Machine Shop, in Covington GA.
I would consider just the block. No spec sheet. Have a receipt saying "Clean and prep block, bore .030 over"
The reason I did not use this block was cause during the time it was in the machine shop, I came across a complete 460/c6...guy wanted me to make a offer. $200 later I had a complete 460 and a lincon C6 to put in my F100.

No. I have two engines. I am keeping the $200 engine. The D9TE block, I have close to $300 in machining, bought the crank from Paul Kane.
Maybe I should have left out the part about how much I spent for the engine I am keeping. I just dont want anyone thinking this is a shady deal, or wondering why I didnt use the block.
I am not good at selling stuff, but have always been brutally honest.
Sorry.

d9 block
well thanxs for your honesty, that is the best way a man can be , it is appriciated, I have one d1 crank turned 10/10 . that one won't fit your D9 block .
Then I have a stroker kit, from Carl. great guy to do business with. it is a stroker kit, so I will this crank fit the D9. the block thread, says the stroker kits will fit, I cant remember if mines, intenal or not bal.I may need to bug carl, but if anyone knows lmk thanxs , I hate to bug someone on little stuff. lol
I have an rpm 4.3 crank, rpm, I beams, diamond file fit rings, moly , -26cc dish diamond pistons, for 10.5 to 1 comp. ratio, with dove heads,
I wish we could figure the piston clearance,
and if the bores were re honed, would that mess up the piston clearance,
anyho what would you want for the block only.
this is why they machine a block ,to what you have ,for the rebuild , lol,
Thanxs Rick

hi the main thing, is what kind of piston clearance, I would have, using my diamonds, , if the bores had to be re-honed, I'd hate to get them too big, then have to get it bored up to the next size, with the proper hone, and piston clearance,
I guess its not worth the gamble, if we don't know for sure, but thanxs for your time, good luck with it.

Your asking about piston to bore clearance, correct? I am not sure how to figure out what the clearance needs to be. Other then having a piston to check it with?
I didnt even know there are different ways to hone cylinders depending on what rings you are going to use.

Re: 460 block for sale
you give the problem to a 5th grader (TV show) lol. measure the bore, if it's dead nuts on 4.390 or +?/-? then measure the pistons. subtract , there the running clearence. if had to change the hone finish .0002" not worth talking about , will work just fine
