Hello from SC (Sac-a-lina)
Old man here and haven't raced since flipping a D gas dragster going through the timing traps back in 1964. Walked away with a small scratch on my shin and said "thank you". Haven't raced since! Love to be involved in it and even crew for a Speed Rod competitor but I leave the driving to others.
So why am I interested in 429-460 Big Block Fords?
Back in the day I bought a new 1963 1/2 Falcon, 4 speed 260 ci black with red interior. Would take it to the local strip and get beat by 283 Chevy station wagons among others, but that's the one I remember
Sometime in '65 got the idea of putting a 427 in the Falcon but "life" got in the way, no 427, no hot rod. Fast forward to today. I'm putting the final touches on my "dream". Slightly modified '63 hardtop was in the paint spray booth yesterday so we're getting real close. Attached pics tell the story better than I can but the highlights of the car are:
Stroked 460 (523 ci), C6 tranny, firewall, fender aprons, undersides of hood and trunk-lid are all grade 8 mirrored stainless steel. Not a race car but Big Block Ford all the way. Hope I can figure out posting pics.....
