Anyone used merge collectors on the super comp 2 inch swap headers?
Running a 501 and could use more torque down below 3000 for footbrake. Can only hold 2200 rpms on footbrake and need it to flash more if i am not going to use transbrake. Anyones experiances appreciated.., ED

you need a looser converter

converters strange acting
It goes to 5500 on the TRANSbrake and has been 1.3020 in the sixty foot. I like it being tight for street , but it acts like a 3000 ten inch one while driving. I think less gear would loosen it up. It almost acts like the sprags not quite right or the tranny not pumping fluid right which i heard could effect it. Sometimes it seems looser then other times also. Its a brand new mrt 8 treemaster ATI. I just trying to save tranny some stress not using transbrake= break

that would tighten it up. He needs brakes and/or a converter change.

slide fronts
it pushes the front tires so i dont see how better front brake could help, also rears are drums so i heard thats good for footbraking. The converter deffinately not matched well to combo, but it seems on the edge of effiency on top end, really loose. If i short shift to second it goes to 6000 and stays there, seems pretty loose??

If it flashes 5000 and you can't hold it over 3000 or so you need REAR brakes if you want it to go higher on the brake. drum brakes are crappy at best. you are pushing the front tires because your rear brakes can't hold. personally i don't see the problem with a 3000 rpm footbrake if your converter will flash to 5000. Do you think it will preform better?
What is your rpm drop on the shifts? What do you cross at?

brake
It leaves alot harder if you can get it to 2500 on the footbrake but thats moving the car forward. It flashes maybe to 4000 at best and motor doesnt hesitate and goes up on the transbrake great with little effort so i dont see anything wrong with tune. It doesnt drop below 6000 on shifts and i spin it to around 7000-7200, the small cam seems to like rpm. 268 682 110 lsa at 108 ic

I guess I don't understand. You say it goes 5000 on the brake but only flashes to 4000.
So you shift at 7000? Rpm drop on the shift would be 1000rpm's then. with a c4 that seems tight to me but with a glide it sounds okay.
Maybe someone else will chime in.

Ok you got me , its hard to say what i mean
OK , i forgot to say transbrake and footbake when i giving detail. It will go over 5000 easy on transbrake. I am having problem with footbraking not being ideal. Car will take off rolling in third at idle with hardly no slippage till you give it gas. That seems like it not multiplieing torque and sprag is slipping for a second. I havnt ran it much on FOOTBRAKE because cant powerbrake above 2200 rpms and motor doesnt flash to powerband and 60ft.s slower about .07s. Trying to make tranny live and hook on slippery tracks. I did one short transbrake check when i first got it and it went 5200 at about 2/3 throttle, it doesnt flash very high around 4000 rpms and motor seems like it struggles to get what it gets. I am use to motors having like a split second of little drag so it can get momentum but this is not the case. Somereason it not sensing torque down low or getting the fluid flow it needs maybe. What really BUGS me is sometime driving around the converter will act normal and stall higher moving around and get up on rpm easier when i first got it so something isnt too far off or just aint right

Re: Anyone used merge collectors on the super comp 2 inch swap headers?
Forgot to mention car has about 40 passes max and maybe 100 miles on new converter. Another thing that differant then i use to is this tranny gets hot really quick like in three sec. on trans brake even at 3000 rpms and it makes finding rpms at launch kinda hard trying to hurry. I have a big cooler and never noticed it before getting hot. I guess its all that torque being held back, lol Got to pull tranny and fix what broke so i will most likely send it to ATI, kinda afraid to change much because there is 1.20s to be found on transbrake on a sticky track and it tied down. Engine only has 180 psi cranking with all plugs out and full throttle so that hurts torque off idle. I would like to try anular booster carb and see if better low throttle responce makes any differance. P.S in third gear it will hold to 3000 max before it pushes car. The motor sounds like its loading pretty hard and the brake are doing ok, just tight converter. IT seems like a need a 9 inch with a looser fin angle so its looser initally but not anymore one top end and effient.
