Acc. Brackets for BB in Mustang??
I have been trying to find out what people are using for brackets for alternator and power steering? I havent been able to find anything on what brackets work and so on. I am getting ready to start the mock up on my 98 and need to get this figured out too. So I can find the ones I need.
Also how well will a built 8.8 rear end hold up to the big block power? I have the 8.8 outa the car and I also have a 9" that is/was for my Ranger. Should I spend the money to build the 8.8 or narrow and swap in the 9? I currently have a spool and a rebuilt posi unit for the 9 and just a posi unit for the 8.8. Just not sure where to go here. My plans are for a 9-8 second street/strip car when its done.
Thanks!

While far from the most experienced on here it seems that if you are using stock suspension mounting points the 8.8 is better for proper geometry and will hold a great deal of power, (7.xx) but if you're going to turn it up to eleven the 9 has more options available.

Are you using a motor plate setup? Or motor mounts?

As of right now Im thinking motor mounts. My AJE K-member will be here tomarrow. I am still tossing the idea around to keep or toss the power steering. What did you do for front springs? I am going with the coil over conversion but not sure what spring? And still dont know what headers to use either...

Narrow a 9". I checked into the 8.8 or 9" deal and the 9" was a little cheaper to build.

Factory brackets should work fine for you, but their are aftermarket aluminum systems avaliable.
As far as the rear a 8.8 is a very capible part with the right work done to it, but the 9" definetly has its advantages and IMO if your starting from scratch, I'd build the 9".

Yeah I found a nice set of brackets and underdrive serpetine belt set up from March Performance. I think I may go that route. Still not sure if I want to keep the power steering or not. If I dont I may mount my alternator done on the drive shaft, like my roundy round buddies do. Then it will be closer to the battery and totally outa site...Then just run a electric water pump and be done.
