Going to test tonight
We'll see what the +1.5" of front suspension travel does for the launch. Also gonna play around with nitrous activation rpm and see if we can find a sweet spot.

Re: Going to test tonight
Nothing broke, nobody got hurt..... It was ladies night (!) at the track and they had a live band playing, too!
Anyway, with poor track prep at our local 1/8 mile we did our best 60 foot we've ever done there.... a 1.53.... not anything to write home about, but the front suspension mods seemed to buy enough time to let the rear suspension work.
Changes we made to the shock settings actually made a real difference in the 60 foot times for the first time, too.
So, the changes we made netted a positive effect, adjustments made had the desired results, and our 60 foot times are back where they should be.
A good night.
Hope everyone else did well tonight as well!
Greg

Re: Going to test tonight
Last pass of the night......
A little squirrely, but it was the best 60' of the night. I got caught up in "burnout-showoff mode" and remembered Wes's busted rod in the burnout box, so I let off.....at 7200 rpm!

Re: Going to test tonight
Well, it was a big pain in the buttocks to get that extra travel.
First, I notched the frame rail under the upper control arm to allow the arm to pivot down further. The welded the frame back together.
Then I realized the upper ball joint was in a bind at full compression, so I made a spacer similar to a negative wedge kit to go under the upper ball joint and corrected that bind.
After that I noticed that the ball joint was now in a bind at full extension. So, I had to disassemble the joint and grind the housing to allow a little more articulation of the joint.
Once all that was done, I discovered the shock was too short. After a bunch of searching I found that a '67 Nova shock would work, and installed those.
Then there was little stuff like rerouting the brake lines and extending the upper suspension bumpers, etc.....
