Its a diesel thing, rpm is controlled by the fuel not air volume, with no smoke I bet it burns alky though..............and the blowers cant be spinning fast enough to make any real boost????.............plus drive them all with one belt and its not in shreds?????
IMO all bling, lots of coin.....I'll bet you could build several nitro burners and have a whole lot more power for the $$$$$$$

I'm with you.
Also listen to him.
"We have 12,... 8-71 blowers".
I only count 8 blowers, 3 on each side and 2 up the center.
Maybe he meant "We have 8,.... 12-71"?
It's all about "BLING" and loads of money.
Cool anyway you look at it.

That's what I said. It's too damn clean to be a Detroit!
What's that go in? A pulling rig?
You can go buy a 3516C series Caterpillar if you want 3000hp...

Theirs a whole bunch of different engines that have been produced over the years that unless your in the specific business or area you'll never see.

I guarantee you that it will never go through anything more than a dyno pull. It will never be put in anything. Different. It was built just to be able to say they built it.

if it burns alky then its not a diesel, which goes back to the butter flies thing..lolrichter69 wrote:Its a diesel thing, rpm is controlled by the fuel not air volume, with no smoke I bet it burns alky though..............and the blowers cant be spinning fast enough to make any real boost????.............plus drive them all with one belt and its not in shreds?????

I guess it would be called a Compression Ignition Engine. They can run diesel or alky (or oil for that matter!). Still controlled by fuel supply, not air supply (butterflies).

24v-71= 1704ci so he's trying to make 1.75hp/ci . Not bad, but very impractical. I like the statement that this engine was for a semi, there ain't no way that thing will fit under any hood. I have heard that there were some 12v 71's in trucks and I've seen a V12 Cat in a Pete, but that thing is huge.

Yep, I saw a V12 in a Cab Over Pete. The engine stuck out past the back of the sleeper!! Sounded wild.

Looks like a 24 cylinder 2 stroke Detroit to me! Just because it's a diesel doesn't mean it has to smoke. It's liable to run at 24:1 afr or over!
I posted a wicked Pete Hot Rod with a 12v Detroit not that long ago.

sorry for the mistakes, I'm posting from my iphone.
I can remember when I was younger listening to these thing screaming through the woods, as almost every skidder was powered by one of these. Hence the name "screaming demon" as we call them. Mufflers would always get ripped off.
