Re: Ky's Grand father passed
Thanks guys I really appreciate the kind words. I myself am not good at expressing my self on issues like this , I usually don't know what to say to someone or feel I can't say anything that has not been said.
As Becca posted earlier my grandad as I called him and I were very close. We formed a bond that can not be explained in words. I grew up just right down the road from him so I was always with him as my dad had to work during the day and I always wanted to be out on the farm doing something with him.
He not only showed me how to do things on the farm , but let me do things closely under his watchful eye. I still remember driving his tractor for the first time , I cut my first tree with a chain saw at the age of 5 and can remember it like it was yesterday.
We went out and cut bushes in the cattle pasture with an ax even though he had a bush hog . To make a long story short he was putting a work ethic in me at an age before I started looking for the "easy" way , and showing me how to survive with the bare minimum in life through hard work , taking care of what we had ,and putting food on table with our livestock and through hunting.
I can remember one day when he was telling me stories of him taking care of his aging parents at the end of the story he asked me "Bubba" as he called me , I am getting old would you take over for me and take care of me I don't want to end up in a nursing home. I told him without hesitation I would. He told me You don't realize what you are getting into. I told him I did not care I would take care of him.
Fast forward several years I lost my granny and my dad to cancer, about 2 years later grandpa had a mini stroke. The stroke took part of him away, but I hired a setter to set with him during the day and my mother, my brother , Becca and I have taken care of him at night and on weekend since , but he was at home.
A couple of weeks ago he took a turn for the worse and we took him to the hospital , because of medicare/ insurance regulations he had to leave the hospital and try rehabilitation at a nursing home. This tore my heart out for this to happen , but I was going to bring him home if he could just get well enough to stand . His health continued to get worse and I seen he would probably not get to come home even though I asked him if he wanted to go home. He said he just wanted to be left alone, and passed away only being there 12 days.
My humble loving Grandad was put to rest today , he was a WWII veteran of the 2 battalion of the 165 infantry. He was in 7 battles with 3 of them documented as major battles .He served his country and today his country honored him. His burial was with military rights and a 21 gun salute it was really a moving experience to see in itself.
I am including a video if you would like to watch.
I thank you all for your condolences
Randy

Randy, that was a very moving ceremony. I've been to your house quite a few times ,and I know everytime you always went and checked on your grandpa before we left or did anything. I know he had to be honored to have such a loving and loyal grandson as you . I'm sure on this day and everyday from here on , your father and your grandfather will look down from heaven with smiles from ear to ear on their faces and be so proud of the person you are! May God Bless you and your family my fine friend, it's a true blessing to have you as a friend.

Special people like that only come along once or so in a lifetime, and we do remember them for all of our life, and hopefully the tradition will continue, if we remember to pass it on.
