What do you think

Went racing yesterday, always race with a group of guys that help each other one guy in the group i have helped tune his car to run faster than he ever run before. both of us loose first round in an 5.95 index class pretty much the same set ups fox body mustangs his 408 mine 383 both sbf motors. we have a gamblers race were everybody puts in 25 that are first round loosers we decide to run heads up rather than the index i told him i was okay with it as long as we ran the same nos jet in the fogger a 28 he said sounds good. well guess what we run i treehim .09 to a .13 light and then he catches me on the top end. i ask him to show me the jet he said no then he tells me he ran a 32 nos jet i lost by with a 5.85 vs a 5.76 needless to say the 25 dollars did not make me as mad as the lie.


Before i tell you what i did how would you handle this situation.

Id tell hem he can work on his car by him self now

Id been really pissed, and Id tried to walk away so that I did not do some thing stupid, and he would of been workin on it by himself fer now on

A fair race between buddies is one thing, but when they lie or steal then it's over.

Heads up is heads up....... Sounds like you wanted to handicap the man by forcing him to run a different jet, and that ain't heads up now is it?

Sure the guy should have been more up front, but that wasn't gonna be a real race anyway, so what's the harm.

Make him buy the beer next time and then you get to laugh about the whole deal.

Drawing a hard line with friends just isn't worth it most of the time.

Now, if it was a chebby dude.......

I see it differently Greg, he was making the playing field even by running the same jet in both cars, besides studly has the smaller motor to begin with.

sell the smallblock, put one of the BB combos listed here throughout the site, go back and whip his sprayed smallblock ass with a n/a deal........................


Our 5.80 index class is full of power adder cars or piperacks, I'm the only n/a car in the field and it feels great lol.

Lets just say I'm popular with the spectators and not so much with the racers lol.

well basically i told them to keep the money and that if they had to cheat and lie than i was done with them he said the reason he did it was because he could not beat me off the lights, I told him i did not want anything to do with him and i was finished. as far as the BBF NA I am working on one now just have not got all the bugs out of it. if i had know he was not going to run a 28 jet i could have jetted mine up to but you expect a friend or someone you race with week in and week out to be honest this was not some backyard showdown.


I was really mad at the racetrack and almost smacked him but i guess i did the right thing and walked away.

Studly, I think I would have doen the same thing as you did. If it was a no-holds-bared type thing for fun, then I would have accepted it, but it sounds like he was a bit sneaky about it. Now on the other hand if he tuned his car and you tuned your car with no help either way then, I would say its on!!

For me it would depend.. If he's a real good friend, i'd let it go and get him the next time.
IF he's somewhat of an acquaitance.....buh bye.

Its just racing... I know most of the my buddies would try whatever trick to beat my car!

Tough call. If it was for BIG money and he "Cheated" after you guys agreed on the setup then I'd be pissed. But for $25 I wouldn't sweat it IF he's a GOOD friend. If not, tell him "Good luck with the car and see you in the staging lanes".
