Found some old pics
I've been cleaning this dump up a little and found some pics. I'll show you the many faces of my Mustang and one of my 66 Comet I've had since the early 70's. I still have the Comet and I'm going to Pro Street it as soon as I get this Chevy truck restored. I've got a bunch of pics of the hand lettering I did years ago before Vinyl graphics hit the scene , but that'll be later.[img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img][img][/img]

Re: Found some old pics
Keith , the best the Comet ran was 8.24 driving it to the track, this was pretty quick in the early eighties around here. It's still got all the running gear in it.I tried to start it this past summer ,but the starter was locked up on it.The engine was free, I turned it over by hand. It's a .040 over 390 with an aluminum intake and a small cam. C6 with a 3000RPM stall and a 3.70 gear. Yes ,Bobby this car is a legend. Back then I ran 3 classes at Windy Hollow(Saturday) and Bowling Green(Sunday),and 2 at US60(Hardingsburg) on friday. On 2 different weekends ,I've won 5 races in one weekend. My Dad always hated the Comet..lol..I guess because I got a few tickets in school with it, and it was just a 289 Stick car then He always griped when I spent my money on it racing it(my 1st race in it was 1975 @ Windy)One day after I got the Mustang, they had a big race at Windy with a bigger payout in both non delay and delay. I finally talked him into hauling the comet for me amd we took both cars. Everyone was talking about the Comet . I hadn't been racing it for quite a few years before I bought the Mustang, so they hadn't seen it in 10 years or more. Just the old guys remembered it!! They were bragging about all the races I'd won in it, and the old man finally saw the light Long story short...I won my 1st Super Pro race that night(beat Mike Phillips of Automotive Performance in the finals) and got in the finals of Pro in the Comet and split the money, I let the other guy win, he was a friend who'd never won and was trying to stay up in points. Oh, Mike Phillips wouldn't split...thanks Mike The old man would probably shit himself if he knew how much I'm fixing to spend on the Comet on this Pro Street deal

Re: Found some old pics
Red ,that's actually a dump bed. We made some blocks to where it could only raise halfway up and some extensions to the bed for the back tires to sit on and a hefty set of ramps . It worked excellent. The old 76 truck only had 12,000 miles on it in 85 when I started using it to haul the car. Dad's farm truck61coon wrote:The Comet on the flatbed is my favorite!!---RED

Re: Found some old pics
Cool pics, thanks for sharing.
The Fox & Comet are fine, but I still like the TBird better.
Now if the Comet had been a full chassis car looking kinda like Ronnie Sox's old Comet PM it would be harder to choose between it and the Tbird..........

Re: Found some old pics
In the past I really never noticed all the body line differences between the earlier side-by-side headlight Comet vs the later top-bottom headlight Comet. I had always thought the body lines were a little closer to being the same than what they really are.
But the Ronie Sox swoopy "Batmobile" Comet with the chop/channel body surgery is the best.
