Fuel cell loop?
I can't find a rulebook around here anywhere. Does anyone know what the requirements are for the protective loop for a front mounted fuel cell? Thanks for any info.

Re: Fuel cell loop?
The fuel cell needs to be "surrounded" by 1 1/4" tubing when it is outside of the front frame rails.

Dan like what's been said, weld it in don't bolt it. I had mine bolted in and they made me weld it up.

Re: Fuel cell loop?
I sure hope this injection deal is worth the effort? I've had to move and relocate everything on this car!! A very special thanks to Jet Boat Bob too. He spend half the day saturday modifying the top on my tunnel ram to fit this birdcatcher. I've moved the oil accumulator and tranny cooler and the oil filter.Working on moving the radiator back about 3" and laying it over to make room. This old Tbird is lacking for space up front. The wheels set right up at the nose. I'll get it done in time to race hopefully.

Dan,
If the fuel pump belt is a square tooth or "Gilmer" style timing belt, those are available at Motion Industries right here in Owensboro. That's where I sent George to get his oil pump belt. It's next door to Kight Lumber on east Parrish Ave.

Re: Fuel cell loop?
One loop is all that is required. But depending on the size of the cell used some people do add a few extra uprights and/or diagonals (out of smaller tubing) to help support the loop if it's mounting a bigger/heavier cell than the smaller 2-3 gallon cells.bbf-falcon wrote:1 Loop or completely enclosed
The loop really amounts to nothing more than a lower speed bump-guard. If you nose the car into the guardrail hard enough at speed, depending on the angle of the hit the loop isn't really going to be much help. The tiny light weight/small cell single loop guards the Pro Stocks use rip off damn easy in a nose-in crash.

Re: Fuel cell loop?
Cool40 ,the belt on my vacuum pump is just an old style V-belt. The one on the fuel pump is a 5MM deal. I got one ordered from Big River Rubber & Gasket in Owensboro . I had the old one ,it's about 2" shorter than I needed to mount it where it is. I guess them ole struts are ok Dave ? I've heard they're the good stuff It's a 4 gallon cell I'm putting in it. I'm going to a 12an bottom radiator hose too, I hope that it's big enough? Thanks for all your help and advice guys!!
