What is the difference in the various blocks C and C sells? C&C Blocks
I see about 4 on their site, not including the various deck heights and bore spacings :
Roberts Design
&
429 Boss
1) Competition
2) Sportsman
3) Semi-Water Jacket

The Roberts Design is based on the 460. The others are based on the 429. The RD block uses all 460 components; timing cover, oil pan, cam, etc. I have a 10.32 deck (stock deck) RD block. You can have all the way up to a 4.600 sleeve put in. Decide on your combo before you order it. Trust me. So far I have had no major issues with anything bolting up. Using a Danny Bee, Moroso pan, etc. The RD block is an awesome piece. I am thoroughly impressed with the piece. Plus the service from Carrol is second to none. He is exremely knowledgable on the BBF stuff. He's been doing it for decades. He answered all my questions about building my motor, with never asking for anything in return.
PM me if have any questions. I have been through building a motor using this block and can give you some pointers.

Re: C&C Aluminum Blocks
I honestly didn't know there were any significant differences in the 429 or 460 blocks. Care to elaborate any on that?
And thanks for the info. Although I would absolutely love an aluminum block, I'm far away from the motor stage at this point and was only wondering after having perused the CandC website....you know, daydreaming.
That being said, if I were to find a good deal on one I'd snatch it up!
Got more info on your combo?

Re: C&C Aluminum Blocks
I am far from a 460/429 expert, but the Boss 429 and RD blocks look significantly different in the photos on the website. The RD block uses a standard 460 front cover, but the Boss 429 block looks completely different in the front cover area. I have never seen a Boss 429 block, so I could be way off here, but the photos look very different.

Well I just looked again, and apparently I am fooled easily. Only the competition block looks different. The sportsman block looks the same. See, I am not a BBF expert. This is my first BBF engine...

OK, passing bum scoop immediately means you have to sell me your motor for 50% of what you paid.
So now, anyone else have input on the differences in these blocks?

No expert here, but I believe there is no oil return passage from the cylinder heads.
Re: C&C Aluminum Blocks
yes, that would make sense. Hmmm... I wonder if that is all though...
