BG Carbs...
With all opinions set aside and all honesty are Barry Grant demon carbs good? I mean I've heard both sides of the story. But the maverick has a 650cfm Edelbrock carb (I think AVS) and I was thinking about getting a BG carb I found on craigslist for it. I do not like Edelbrock carbs, I would prefer something else (it does run fine) but how much gain/loss would I have if I got this 625cfm Demon for it? I have yet to use a Demon carb, would I be better off just holding off and going with a Holley or Quick Fuel?

Thanks

Yeah I know, that's one thing keeping me from getting it. What if I need parts you know?the Coug wrote:just so you know BG went out of Business, so there will be a rash of his stuff being sold to get rid of it......
It used to have 600cfm 4160 holley on it, this eddy is a ton better. But I think the old carb was just crap in general.

I put my holley 3310 on it for poops and giggles, doesn't like anything below 1500 I kind of wanted to at least try it, and yeah, waaaay too much carb for that thing I'm going to swap the other one back on, I already set it up for the engine. But I do want to put a holley on it or something at some time.

My opinion, BG carbs work very well and are of good craftsmanship. The few I have worked with were very responsive to changes. However, when I'm personally in the market for a race type of carburetor I call the guys in Bowling Green!

I have had experience with 2-750 mightys, 1-650 race series, 1-975 drag race series, 1-1195 king demon, and 2-850 mightys. All carbs I thought ran great but the 850's had a bad dead spot that I couldn't tune out, other guys have tried and same result, it must be an 850 thing. Now all the guys I race with use quick fuel or prosystems.

We ran his stuff in the mid 90's. Pumps would not pump, regulators wouldn't regulate, seamed like everything leaked. We decided early that there were far superior products out there.
