Driveability on the street with the 514 Ford Motorsport crate engine and a TCI Sat. night special convertor ??
Has anyone drove the 514 Ford Motorsport crate engine with the .647 solid roller on the street with a fairly tight torque convertor ?
I have a C-6 with a TCI Sat. night special torque convertor with 3.73 gears (28 in. tires) in a 3400 lb. (w/driver) fox body and will be using an 850 carb because the Torker II intake is the only intake that will clear the stock hood..
Question:
How would the driveability of the lower stall convertor work with driving around and pulling away from a stop with that 514 ?
With light throttle, will the engine fall on it's face and stall ?
I am not looking for the quickest 60ft at the track. It will be street driven and bracket raced occasionally.
Thanks

Get a 3,500 rpm stall speed converter.

Yeah, if the converter is too tight the car will be a bear to keep under your feet at a stop light... it will idle surge and keep wanting to stall out. Been there, done that years ago.

Thanks 4th !
I would imagine that 514 crate would idle around 1200-1300 ?
I know with my mild 350 hp 466, that TCI convertor would flash to 2200 when stabbed.
It drove as normal off idle, but then again it had the mild Mororsport cam and 9.0 to 1 c.r.
