JW Bell Issues
I am having issues with convetor clearence and its looking like the bell is too short.
Mine is 6.660 long Treeyasoons was 6.750. I have tried two diff convertors and pumps.
Convertor is 6.125 overall length from pads. Installed conv. to face of bell is 1.010 not 1.125
which it needs to be. Does anyone have a bell off to measure it? I would be truley gratefull before I call JW again.

Its a c4?
You can make a spacer out of aluminum 1/8" thick to go between the bell and the trans......or run an 1/8" mid plate/spacer

Mines not easily to get at, I had Lenny set my converter up with my midplate in mind, I run it in place of the factory blockplate.

Re: JW Bell Issues
After talking with Coug I decided to make a mid plate, which worked pretty good. Been working with JW's RD Manager Ken and he wants to solve this issue he has been great to work with. I have one more thing to check and that is the block face to crank face (where the flex plate mounts) dim. he said Ford varied this dim thru the years and he has seen .200 difference. My advice to someone doing a install like this is to order your convertor made for a 3/16 mid plate you can always shim.

Re: JW Bell Issues
You may want to look real close as my pg set up had the flywheel rubbing the inside of the bell housing
i had to grind about 30 thou all the way around it .I also put a small hole in mine to check the distance
from the starter drive to the flywheel 1200 in starters in 3 weeks I think i got one of the first
ones ever cast. But the people at JW were cool as c ould be.

I would have sent that one back to them. I got .090 from gear to gear may shim that to get close to .125

Update
I made a .1875 thick mid plate and everything fit like a glove. After all the conversations with JW
back in July I guess they added around .080 offset to the "Wheel" due to allot of request from the "Ford guys" I was told. My bell is out of spec by .070 too short. All the stack ups of the tolerences was going against me and there was three options. Go to a different Flex plate, cut the convertor pads or add a midplate. With midplate converter clearence was .135 which I just bolted it up. This way I can use a std converter.
