545-557 issues
had a few guys tell me that when building 545-557 motors with 4.5 inch cranks not to use stock blocks because it knocks the main bearings out, is that true? how many passes are you 545-557 guys getting out of your stock block motors

Whoever is giving you this information does not know what they are talking about. If anything, the rings are shorter lived; not any bearing problems to speak of unless there is also a detonation issue...

I'm with Randy. Your info may have come from some goober who knows another goober who managed to beat the bearings out of a BBF. I've been flogging the same D9 block with a 4.3" crank since 2002....high 5 sec. car....has yet to hurt a bearing (or any other engine part for that matter.) It's used up a number of rears and 'glides, though.
If it's a correct build with a sensible tune and good oiling system, don't sweat the bearings.

MOPAR guys have main web problems with long strokes.
