Flood 2011
The main thing is my thoughts and prayers go out to all families in Il., Mo., Tn., and Ky. that have or going to lose their home to the flooding of the Ten., Cumb., or Miss. rivers.
Where I work they have a mark where the 1997 flood hit, as of yesterday it was one foot below with the projected crest three foot above, this was measured not at bank level but at a point that was already twenty or thirty foot above dry ground.(before flooding)
I am stressed out about my home, so I called the only campground close to home that is above flood zone to see if I could take my camper there for a place to go if we need it, I explained that it would sit empty and I would pay the rate to keep it there just in case we needed it for a short period in case of emergency, they gave grief about it being a daily sight for tourist, I even said we would use no water or sewage. He was real nice, but said it was a corporate campground and his hands was tied. Finally he felt so bad he agreed but the price is unbelievable. All I can say is he tried, I will pay what I have to. Thanks to K-A Corporate.
I will have more to say locally about this camp ground.
Sorry about the rant, but ???????????

Sorry to hear this David. You are more than welcome here if need be. If I ever get in trouble with flood waters, we have one huge problem on our hands. Take care my friend, and anyone else who needs it.

Re: Flood 2011
Thanks for the offer guys, I am still in good shape for a couple of days, but there are so many people who are already under. I hope they don't blow the levy in Mo., they say that would flood 205 square miles and only ease flooding for two days. There is no solution, just have to let Mother nature run the course.
Randy does your offer include food? You know I don't eat much.

Not that I am not already in the poor house but would really be if I had to supply food
Becca and I drove over to the lake , the dam and through gilbertsville and down to coke plant road yesterday. The lake is unbelievable its in the asphalt parking lot at jonathan creek boat ramp.
The tennesse river is high , but I have seen it close to where it is now. I have been itching to get out there in my boat and look around my families old home place . I can remember my grandads stories of the "37 rise" as he called it. I am sure the river is not as wild as it was back then without the dams there.
I just can't see blowing that levee in missouri helping much. I have been over there quite a bit duck hunting all down that flood basin. All I see it doing is filling them farmers fields up with trash and logs and destroying their homes , etc and then the water will go right back in the main channel of the mississippi.
Building the town of Cairo between where the ohio and Mississippi river meet was not a very smart move anyway.
If you need to move anything up here let me know got some room in the barn.

I got the camper moved to the campground, it is full of can goods and bottled water. When I met the couple running the site they were just great, you can't meet better people. I tried to pay some money up front but they would not take it, they said to wait because they wanted to try and prorate it.
Randy, I went over the new road just below the dam today, WOW it is stunning how the water is flowing over the gates and if they put the last set of flood gates in it looks like it would not make five foot difference. Yes I mean that the water on the lake side is what looks like 5 plus foot from total spill way coverage. (meaning past capacity of dam)
And they blew the levee in Mo.. God bless the people that is now going to be flooded.
